WithBaby: Android compatibility has been maximised

Delivery was a bit long but here it is! Please welcome the new updated version of our WithBaby app, dedicated to the Smart Baby Monitor. Firstly, we would like to thank the 30-or-so Withingers who were kind enough to help us BETA-test it before its release on all kinds of Android devices (in French and in English). We paid special attention to the Android user experience. We wanted it to be seamless and natural. And now let’s check out this latest brew.

When is it out?

Today WithBaby‘s new version has been released on the Google Play app store!

How do you set it up?

Like all Android apps, the WithBaby app features a very simple set up process. Don’t worry about Bluetooth… Simply launch the app and follow the in-app set up messages.

Which Android devices is WithBaby compatible with?

WithBaby Android is compatible with selected Android devices. This whitelist is maintained by Withings in order to make sure everybody has a good user experience. Feel free to go to this URL in order to check that your specific Android smartphone or tablet is compatible.
In this case, my 3 Android devices are compatible with WithBaby, as shown in this screen capture.

Does it work with any Smart Baby Monitor?

The kind of Android compatibility we have achieved makes WithBaby totally compatible with both the new and the existing Smart Baby Monitors. And of course this new Android portability comes on top of the original iOS compatibility (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad).

Is WithBaby also compatible with other devices? (apart from Android and iOS devices)

Yes. This latest WithBaby app works on Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD!

Kids! Draw Santa!

Here’s a Christamassy drawing to color (you and your kid – we don’t want to make anybody jealous). Just download the drawing and print it out! In a few days, we happen to launch a “Kids! Draw Santa!” drawing/coloring contest! This is your chance to win the upcoming Smart Kid Scale!

Hello guys. Just wondering, where is the support for Google Nexus 7?

  • Kirk Watts

Hi, when will you be updating the iOS app to take advantage of the iPhone 5 screen?

  • Valle

I just bought a nexus 7 android device. Please make it compatible with the app so that i can use it!
    Thanks

  • http://blog.withings.com/ Withings

Hi Kirk! It is imminent! :) Thanks for your interest!

Hi Qfox! Did you try going to this page: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.withings.withbaby
It should indicate if you have a compatible Android device, right under the WithBaby icon, on the left.

  • http://blog.withings.com/ Withings

Hi Valle! Please go to https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.withings.withbaby to see if your device is compatible (look at the message right under the WithBaby icon, on the left).

Hello. Yep. But still unavailable for Google Nexus 7.

I’m usign now a version 1.04, it works almost brilliant.

There was some non-critical bugs while installation and configuration. I’ve described them in a letter that I’ve sent to community. But all other is good ;-) No problems on my device.

When will you add support for Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy S3 Mini?

  • http://blog.withings.com/ Withings

Hi Tijmen! Let me check with our Product Manager. I’ll let you know. Thank you for your patience.

  • http://tijmendegelder.nl Tijmen de Gelder

With better Android support I’ll become a big promotor of the Withings Baby Monitor!

  • http://blog.withings.com/ Withings

Hi Tijmen! We’re working on it. Thank you for your suggestion and interest!

  • http://blog.withings.com/ Withings

Hi Maoued! WithBaby is compatible with most Android phones and tablets, but the way the Google Play app store works, you must have the device to see if it is compatible with a particular app. If you’re thinking of certain products, please let us know which ones so we can tell you. Thank you for your understanding.

  • http://blog.withings.com/ Withings

Hi Konstantin. Thank you for your purchase. As you mentioned, the WithBaby app is not compatible with HTC One XL at this time. I’m really sorry for the inconvenience. You can still use your Smart Baby Monitor with an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and select Android devices such as main Samsung, Asus, Motorola or Sony smartphones/tablets.

  • Mark Blacknell

So, for the record, have you just completely given up on Android compatibility with with your blood pressure product?

I understand that you’re only going to make what you feel like making, but at this point, I’m feeling kind of dumb that I ever expected Withings to take the non-iOS market seriously.

  • http://blog.withings.com/ Withings

Hi Mark! We’re going to release an updated version of the Blood Pressure Monitor that will be compatible with Android devices, but we can’t commit to any dates for the moment. Thank you for your understanding.

  • http://tijmendegelder.nl Tijmen de Gelder

What’s the progress on you guys working on it?

  • http://blog.withings.com/ Withings

Hi Tijmen! Unfortunately it is still in the pipes and we can’t commit to any dates. Thank you for your understanding.

Please release a COMPLETE WHITELIST for the product. I am trying to decide what tablet to buy. Sometimes testing us not an option (ie: In the store on a demo unit). PLEASE post the list. I am on my second device with NO android support. This is becoming frustrating.

  • http://blog.withings.com/ Withings

Hi Marcel! Thanks a lot for your interest! We would advise you pick an iPad or a Samsung tablet. Beyond this, it’s hard to say (too many different criterions). Thank you for your understanding.

  • Marcel Miranda

Frustrating to say the least. Will the ASUS MemoPad work? I know the Nexus 7 does, but I don’t want to buy another device. Please post the whitelist. It will be beneficial to everyone.

To be 100% sure, maybe you could download the APK on your device. Feel free to give it a try by launching the following address: http://bit.ly/WithBaby-106P It might work, but as we haven’t tested it, it also might not. Thank you for your understanding.
